A Fashion Runway Birthday Party

Attempting to be secretive but getting caught red handed, or more appropriately - red lipped. I'm yet to meet someone who didn't rummage through their mums clothes or makeup as a young girl. Trying on items that they've been asked not too, or making a big ol' mess as they drop the open bottle of foundation across the carpet. That's why I adore today's birthday celebration designed by Shelley of Paper Face Party, who created a fashion party of epic proportion for Lola's 7th birthday that encouraged everyone to express themselves. As Shelley recounts - I was asked to create a fun birthday full of lots of dress ups, dancing, music and yummy high Tea with lots of pink too!
From there I came up with ‘Lola’s Runway Fashion Birthday Party’, a mixture of high energy fun for the girls, and a chance for a relaxing catch-up for the Mums whilst enjoying watching their daughters strut their stuff.
Using a colour palette of pink, gold, mint, taupe and a touch of black I created three main areas to the party; “Dressing Room”, “Back stage” and “The Runway”.
The ‘smaller’ guests were greeted and shown to the “Dressing Room” where their fun really began; dress ups, make up and all the accessories a 7yr old girl could dream of. Whilst Mums where shown to their ‘VIP Runway’ seats… with a glass of bubbles of course!
Once dressed the girls proceeded to the “Back Stage” Area where they sampled the beautiful treats by JK Cakes, lounged on cushions or just squealed with excitement as they prepared to ‘strut their stuff’ with their friends.
Onto “The Runway” and their very own Stage with draped backdrop! With music pumping thanks to a family friend DJ the girls pranced, danced, catwalked, and generally had a ball!
