Talk Derby to me - spring racing styled shoot

We’re off and racing again this year! Here at OIP we have our outfits planned out in advance and can’t be more excited to share with you what we have coming up for this racing season. For this styled shoot there was an abundance of flowers, clean lines, bold colours and pretty fascinators to boot!

The Smith Hotel’s Atrium was transformed into a Spring Racing Fashion paradise. Alaina from Make is Pretty Hire created the most gorgeous garland and an epic ceiling balloon installation, incorporating the existing foliage chandelier and making it her own. The Event Rental Company had the most spectacular pink arch that we just had to have and the cutest vintage bike! The perfect photo backdrop!

Megan from Barley Boy created our ‘Talk Derby to Me’ signage, drink stirrers, cake toppers and charger plates. She chose the most beautiful soft lilac frosted acrylic, this tied in the tablescape theme perfectly. Basia from Basia Puchalski Floral Design dressed the arch with her extravagant flowers, there was a mix of dried, dyed and fresh florals. She custom created the florals onsite which meant she could really work with the space and props that we had. Basia even put some finishing touches on our pink Spring Racing drip cake!

We wanted to create a luxe dining table scape with metallic cutlery; napery and beautiful stone wear plates. Laurinda from By Pop Cookies hand delivered the most gorgeous hand painted water colour cookies. She custom stamped the cookies and we added them to each plate. They were delicious!

Our models for the day was Ash from Ash Wore That and Bonnee Fahlstrom. The girl’s outfits were from Shona Joy’s new Garden Party range. This collection is full of beautiful pastels, cascading frills, hand tied belts, stunning silhouettes and asymmetrical neck lines. Ford Millinery supplied the most gorgeous headpieces. Our favourite was their classic Annie signature hat, complete with their black and white Ford Millinery branded ribbon. Styletread supplied the race ready footwear. They have such a great range for this season to suit every budget. The girls sported a classic block heal with their outfits, not only stylish but perfect to wear all day. LuluGracie supplied the cutest tassel earrings and beaded pearl hair accessories. We will be seeing a lot of these around the track. Our hair and makeup team was Keiran from Heading out Hair and Laila from Beauty by Laila. Kieran created soft textured waves on both girls which complimented the head pieces perfectly. Laila worked her magic, and created looks that complimented the girls skin tones and outfit choices nicely.
