OIP'S FATHER'S DAY EDITORIAL: BEERS + BURGERS

There used to be a time where taking care of yo-self was seen as a negative when it came to males. Pampering yourself with the best in products and staying on top of trends was a rarity, and more emphasis was put on traditional “blokey” things. Well, we are happy to say, gone are those days, and now men are actually free to embrace their inner fabulousness and banish the “daggy” father get-up! Father’s Day is a beautiful way to share with your family, and pulling together a thoughtful gift to give thanks for all they do for you can be difficult. Here at OIP, we wanted to incorporate all of those elements: the modern day Father who is stylish yet laid-back, and play upon some fun gift ideas under our cheeky, BEERS + BURGERS theme. Joining us at Hello Sam, in South Yarra, was the fabulous Pete (The Daddy Fashion Stylist), Larry (The Simple Gentleman), Jase, and Carlton AFL’s Levi, along with their adorable mini-mes. This ultra-cool burger shack had just the right industrial feel for us to pull together all of our styling elements, along with the help from the talented gals at Blooming Balloon Stylists, who created some seriously adorable pieces throughout (including leather tassels!), and some gorgeous textured foliage from Botanics of Melbourne. We wanted this shoot to be fun, authentic, and capture some real moments between father and child. So what does the modern-day oh-to-trendy Father want, then? We've compiled for you our favourite picks for 2017, for all budgets. To start at the top, we have some plush leathery goods from The Daily Edited (pictured below), made that little bit funkier yet again, by not only offering you your monogrammed name or initials that TDE is known so well for, you can now also get emojis. Yes, that’s right-EMOJIS. Another fun idea to "improve your sock swag", as they say, is a sock subscription from the Fresh Sock Co, who offer subscriptions which surprise you with a new pair every month, keeping your sock-game forever on-point! The modern-day Father's special day would not be complete without some skincare, which we have covered with the new men's range from Bro-To Skincare, a spin-off of Zoe Blake's cult peachy range, Go-To Skincare. Now made palatable for our father figures in a masculine grey tone. And what better way to clink cheers to a day of father appreciation, than with a beautiful bottle of wine from 6ft6, or a "fine beer" as they like to call it, by Sample Brew. Designed by an ex-architect, this fab' brew is targeted towards design-conscious individuals who also want quality, with all beers being unfiltered, unpasteurized, preservative and additive free! These little babies are complimented perfectly with a masculine and durable Didgeridoona stubbie holder. The scrumptious desserts table was decked out to the heavens with some amazing waffle pops from Let’s Waffle ’N’ Shake, adorable cookies from Sugar Rush by Steph, some glorious goodies from High Tea Cakery and some next-level doughnuts from Bistro Morgan. Coco Frio delivered the goods with some dairy and refined sugar-free ice creams which were also very photogenic, in their lovely little tubs. What a gorgeous shoot! Big thanks to everyone involved!
